When you ask most little boys what they want to be when they grow up, you’re bound to some hear ambitious career choices. Astronaut, fireman, and detective come to mind. The overachiever on the playground might even dream of a career as a Major League Baseball player. In the end, only a small percentage of young boys actually achieve their youthful aspirations. Our newest dentist was one of those little boys who knew exactly what he wanted to be when he grew up and chased that dream until he made it.
“My first inkling that I wanted to be a dentist was an experience I had as a kid,” Dr. Benjamin Little tells us. “I had a palate expander and knew I wanted to be in dentistry.”
Born in Pennsylvania, Dr. Little’s family moved to upstate New York when he was nine-years-old. After the experience with the palate expander set him on the path to dentistry, Dr. Little attended Old Dominion University in Norfolk, Virginia, where he graduated with a BS in Biology and a minor in Chemistry. He continued his education at Stony Brook University School of Dental Medicine and completed his General Practice Residency at NYU Winthrop Hospital. Dr. Little is the first in his family to pursue dentistry. We’re so happy that Dr. Little’s early childhood dental experience was a positive one, and we’re proud to welcome him to 4Excellence In Dentistry.
“I want to do the best work that I can and give the best care to my patients,” Dr. Little said of his aspirations at our practice. Dr. Little loves that at 4Excellence In Dentistry we are always looking to improve our practice. “The practice offers cutting edge technology, like a digital scanner,” he said. “Not every office has that. I also like that all of our doctors continue to learn and stay up to date on new techniques and technology.”
He also wants to make sure patients understand the importance of what we do at 4Excellence In Dentistry. Our care doesn’t stop when a patient leaves the office. Dr. Little stresses that patients should continue to do their part at home to maintain their oral health – brushing, flossing and eating the right foods.
Dr. Little is married and lives in Mineola. His wife, Kimberly, works in New York City as an Art Director at an advertising agency. He enjoys golfing and cheering on his Philadelphia sports teams, especially the Phillies and Eagles. (We definitely won’t hold that against him though!) Dr. Benjamin Little is a member of the American Dental Association, the New York State Dental Association, and the Nassau County Dental Association.
Teamwork is key to a great practice. Dr. Little said that he loves the way everyone in the office works together to provide excellent care for patients. “We have great services for patients and offer comprehensive treatment,” he said.
