Loosing Baby Teeth

By September 20, 2016September 22nd, 2016No Comments

Losing baby teeth is an important part of growing up.

What is the best method to remove a loose tooth?

Do you let it fall out on its own or pull it out? What’s the best way to pull it out?

If you feel that it is loose enough, here’s what you can have your child do to help remove the baby tooth. Place gauze around your child’s tooth if he wants to pull the tooth out. Help your child grasp the tooth firmly through the gauze. Have your child wiggle the tooth to make it looser. Do not pull or twist, simply move the tooth back and forth. Ask your child if there is any pain when it’s moved.

If the tooth appears to be attached to the roots and does not seem loose enough to remove painlessly, explain to your child that pulling it right now would cause both pain and bleeding. Encourage your child to continue to wiggle the tooth to make it looser. If the tooth seems loose enough; just hanging by the thread of the root, it’s likely ready to come out with minimal discomfort and bleeding.

Brushing teeth several times a day or eating an apple can help to loosen a tooth.
